Associate Editor, American Short Fiction, Austin, TX (June 2021 – July 2025)

  • Evaluated stories deemed worthy of consideration for publication and discussed with senior editors; took lead on assigned accepted stories and communicated directly with the writer to make edits; prepared the magazine to go to press by copyediting and proofreading it in its entirety.

Assistant Editor, EPOCH Magazine, Ithaca, NY (Sep 2021 – May 2024)

  • Consulted with J. Robert Lennon, the lead editor, about future directions for the magazine; assessed general submissions and chose which to recommend to the lead editors for inclusion in the magazine. 

Editorial Fellow, American Short Fiction, Austin, TX (May 2020 – June 2021)

  • Provided editorial feedback for accepted stories to discuss in editorial meetings; copyedited stories to prepare them for print; assisted the development director with fundraising and grant writing; created a digital archive of the magazine's past issues.

Managing Director, Balcones Poetry Prize, Austin, TX (Oct 2019 – Oct 2020)

  • Assisted the Director of the Balcones Poetry Prize, Adeena Reitberger, to source acquisitions for the Balcones Prizes for Fiction and Poetry from various presses; evaluated the entries in order to select those to advance to the jury.

Assistant to the Creative Writing Department Chair, Austin Community College, Austin, TX (Oct 2019 – Oct 2020)

  • Assisted the department chair, Charlotte Gullick, with reviewing student portfolios, assessing teacher evaluations, and representing and promoting the ACC's Creative Writing Department at various events; created and proofed all copy for the new department website and managed the social media platforms to increase awareness of and excitement for course offerings.

Co-founder and Skills Coach, Whole Minde Skills, Austin, TX (Sep 2018 – May 2021)

  • Developed a business alongside Bruno Lepore, MA LPCS, which focused on working individually with teens and young adults to develop holistic skills to support their academic and personal success; worked one-on-one with clients; managed all aspects of business development including community outreach.

Development Director & Tutor, Encompass Tutorial Services, Austin, TX (Oct 2016 – Aug 2018)

  • Began as an executive functioning tutor, working individually with middle and high-school students to develop strategies and skills for achieving their academic goals; continued to tutor as I took on the role of Development Director, working closely with the founder, Jessica Shore, to make large-scale business decisions regarding marketing and hiring; responsible for developing the curriculum for AP English and History summer prep programs, training new tutors, and leading summer programming.

Research Assistant, Cornell College Body Dissatisfaction and Eating Disorder Research Laboratory, Mount Vernon, IA (Sep 2015 – May 2016)

  • Collaborated on a team led by Principal Investigator, Dr. Melinda Green, to make advancements in the understanding of eating disorders; studied previous eating disorder literature to identify gaps in the research; directed research participants in lab protocol; gathered data; conducted statistical analysis of data; co-presented results at conferences.

Direct Support Professional, REM Iowa, Mount Vernon, IA (Aug 2014 – Mar 2015)

  • Assisted clients with disabilities with extensive medical and psychological conditions by providing routine support so they could live a life of greater independence; monitored the behavior of clients and practiced conflict resolution in group settings which required de-escalation and empathetic listening skills; trained new employees to prepare them for supporting clients effectively.
